Bishop
Ndandali and his family hid in their house for months. Three times they heard
the interahamwe were coming to get them. They survived because militia leaders
feared international attention if they murdered a Bishop and French soldiers
arrived before they could be "finished off." Bishop Ndandali died in February
1995 because he became ill and there were no medical facilities left.
